Installation Instructions

These carriers require a minimum Class 1 trailer hitch with a draw bar. For proper installation, any existing tow ball must be removed from the hitch.

For the best performance, the Tilt 'N' Tote series carriers should be mounted at a height of 9-11 inches above the ground. These carriers may be mounted either above or below the draw bar to insure that the carrier is the proper height off the ground. Specialty draw bars that bring the lift closer to the ground may be purchased from a local hitch dealer.

Place the anti-sway bar above or below the draw bar, depending on the side of the hitch bar will be mounted to. Make sure that the holes on the anti-sway bar and the draw bar are aligned. The anti-sway bar must lay flat on the draw bar.

NOTE: These carriers come with a standard anti-sway bar designed to fit on a drawbar that is under 2.5” wide. Please be sure to purchase this size draw bar when purchasing a trailer hitch. Some Class 3 hitches have an extra wide drawbar that measures over 2.5” in width. If this size drawbar is encountered, please contact your local dealer or WheelChair Carrier and the proper anti-sway bar will be provided to you.

Place the carrier’s hitch body on the same side as the anti-sway bar, either above or below the drawbar.

Insert the 3/4” bolt from the bottom and tighten the bolt with the lock washer and nut provided. Make sure the bolt is secure and the carrier does not move from side to side.

Attach the extension post to the tilt arm with the four Phillips head machine screws and star washers provided.

Attach the locking arm by installing the upper and lower handles.

Caution! CAUTION ! Do Not Overtighten Plastic Handles.

Make sure the unit easily tilts to the ground and folds up to the bumper of the vehicle by pushing back on the tilt arm.

Make sure all of the pivot points and the latching mechanism are properly greased and move effortlessly.
